A small business website costs two separate numbers, and quotes look wildly inconsistent because most of them blur the two: a one-off fee to design and build it, and a recurring bill to keep it live. Build fees in the UK run from a few hundred pounds for a template filled in by a freelancer to five figures for a bespoke design with commissioned copy and photography, because the phrase "a five-page website" describes the page count and nothing else. The running bill is far more predictable, and on a static site it comes down to a domain name, hosting, a mailbox and nothing much else.
